We thought that sweets did not have anything original to give us anymore. Now Christian Maenhout, creator of “Bonbons à l'Ancienne sprl” [a Belgian company whose name means “Sweets the old-fashioned way”] presents his divine Cuberdons, fifteen grams of a typically Belgian sweet with surprising fruit flavours.
Everyone melts for Cuberdons
Originally, the “Cul de Bourdon” was one of the most widely sold traditional sweets of the Low Countries. This is a conically shaped sweet, slightly hard on the outside, but deliciously soft on the inside.
Christian Maenhout developed the skill of making and perfecting the Cuberdon, using carefully chosen, first-class, natural ingredients and flavours in his preparation.
A palette of colours and flavours…
The original Cuberdon is red, flavoured with raspberry. Christian Maenhout is going to give it twenty-six little fellow sweets by creating a collection of flavours which has never been used before: pineapple, cherry, strawberry, orange, apple, lemon, mint, aniseed, peach, banana, lavender, coconut, blueberry, kiwi, vanilla, fruits of the forest, grapefruit, bergamot, cola, cinnamon, melon, mandarin, apricot, pear, violet and blackcurrant.
Twenty-seven irresistible flavours making a sensual, sweet array with a great wealth of colours, to which more new creations will certainly be added.
The world was created in seven days…
To produce a handmade Cuberdon which does not stick to your teeth takes time! Seven days, to be exact. The first is devoted to measuring and mixing the ingredients, then cooking them in copper cauldrons. After this, the secret recipe is then cooled in moulds. Between then and the sixth day, the Cuberdons go through a slow drying process designed to crystallize the fine outer layer whilst retaining the soft centre. On the seventh day, the Cuberdons are removed from the moulds by hand and are now ready to be eaten by connoisseurs of all ages. A real delicacy!
Make Cuberdons a part of your sales.
Presented in pretty boxes or on a display shelf, Cuberdons from Bonbons à l'Ancienne sprl give a splash of colour in shops where they are sold.
The quality of the ingredients used in their production, the flavours offered, the originality of the product, the pleasure given and the reasonable sale price for handmade sweets make them a great success with consumers, as shown by the steady and sizeable growth in sales of our Cuberdons over the last few years
